Classification of rods
The crossbar performs the following functions in the interior:
- Aesthetic. It is a kind of decoration for the bathroom.
- Curtain fastening.
Depending on the configuration, the following types of frames are distinguished:
- With a rectangular cross-section. This is a traditional design, common back in Soviet times.
- Corner holder for curtains in the bathroom. Great for corner bathtubs. The cornice has the shape of an arc or semicircle.
- Holder for plumbing fixtures of complex shape.
Important! The crossbar can be attached to the walls or ceiling. In the latter case, decorative reflectors are used to disguise the fastenings. Holders with a telescopic (folding) rod are very functional. They can be used for any premises.
The following materials can be used as manufacturing materials:
- Chromed steel.
- Aluminium alloy.
- Plastic.
Important! Plastic and aluminum are inferior in strength to steel. But steel products are more expensive.
Briefly about curtains: varieties, models, options
Curtains for the font have become more than a functional detail that allows you to keep walls and ceilings clean. There are few options for attaching curtains: wall or ceiling mounting. Both options are based on the installation of a barbell.
A reliable curtain is a must if you plan to use a classic corner bath as a shower stall.
Ceiling installation can also be done in the form of a cornice with chains hanging from above, to which curtains are in turn attached. Curtains are attached to rods, spacers, and cornices using rings, strips of fabric, hooks, and magnetic latches.
A correctly chosen decorative curtain will become a real decoration of the interior.
In this case, the rings are located above the upper edge of the curtain or are sewn into the material itself, forming eyelets.
The main criteria for choosing a curtain for a bathroom are: practicality, reliability, hygiene of the model, and of course an attractive appearance.
When a “pocket” type design is used, any barbell can be installed, since it will not be visible at all. If the selected material is solid (plastic, glass, etc.), such structures are mounted using special guides or hung like doors. As for the chosen color design, the curtains can be plain or contain a design, pattern, or picture.
The new curtain should fit organically into the overall interior of the bathroom.
Types of fasteners
Let's take a closer look at the main types of fastenings for curtains in the bathroom.
Hooks
This is the most inexpensive choice, but it also has a significant drawback - a limited area of use. Hooks are best suited for flat and rectangular crossbars. They perfectly hold curtains made of various materials.
Important! To prevent the hooks from sliding off the cornice, stops must be placed on both sides of the cornice.
Rings
Rings have rightfully occupied a significant place in bathroom design. They look very good. In addition, you can find rings of different colors and different materials on sale.
Important! They also have a drawback - you can only put the ring on the cornice during installation.
Eyelets
Another type of fastener, which consists of holes in the curtain fabric, secured with metal. Eyelets are one of the most expensive types of fastening curtains in the bathroom, but the curtain itself looks very beautiful. Sliding along the bar also occurs without problems.
Important! Eyelets can be used for different types of textiles, except those that are too thin and light.
Loops
Some curtain models are sold with loops. If you wish, you can order them from a studio or sew them yourself. These fasteners are suitable for rods of any shape. But good glide can only be ensured on a smooth, polished surface.
Clamps
Decorative crab clips make it possible to adjust the length of curtains. Their cost is low, and they look very decorative. The ideal option for hanging on clips is not too thick textiles. Heavy curtains are unlikely to stay on them.
Important! For families with small children this is not the best option.
String
If for some reason it is not possible to install a cornice, you can mount special brackets with a metal string stretched between them. The string is ideally suited for thin and light textiles and looks very elegant.
Types of corner curtains for the bathroom
The main criteria for choosing a curtain for a bathroom are: practicality, reliability, hygiene of the model, and of course an attractive appearance. The new curtain should fit organically into the overall interior of the bathroom. Among the variety of products offered, there are several models that have become widely known.
Hard
Reliable, strong corner curtains for the bathroom are made from various materials:
- glass - tempered glass is considered the most expensive material for creating rigid curtains. The product is easy to care for using a sponge and regular detergents. There are no drips or stains that spoil the appearance on transparent surfaces;
- plastic - modern high-strength materials make it possible to create a unique protective structure that can withstand even strong jet pressure without releasing a single drop of water.

Glass
Glass corner curtains look ideal, creating a feeling of lightness and spaciousness in a small room, but at the same time glass is a fragile material, it is easy to break, and installing new shutters will not be cheap.
Decorative canvases have different surfaces:
- smooth - the traditional transparent surface is particularly hygienic, easy to care for and clean from dirt;
- matted - rough opaque walls reliably hide individual areas. This design is ideal for a combined bathroom;
- with a pattern or ornament - decorative surfaces will organically fit into a classic interior and help create a festive atmosphere in the bathroom;
- with film coating - a bright curtain is ideal for creating modern interiors. Stylish modern coatings look very impressive.

Each model has its own specific advantages and is suitable for arranging spacious bathrooms and small bathrooms.
Fabric
The simplest available solution is still considered to be a corner mechanism with a fabric curtain. Textiles are attractive, easy to care for and easily accessible. If we compare the now traditional polyethylene curtain with modern fabric options, the second option will certainly win. A luxurious curtain can enliven any interior and create a warm, homely atmosphere in the room.
Fabrics come in a wide variety of colors and textures. The curtain for the corner bath is made from the most durable and reliable materials:
- impregnated cotton - the material has gained the most popularity due to its special environmental friendliness and safety. Curtains are made from natural cotton impregnated with special agents that protect the fabric from water and steam;
- polyester - the surfaces of the innovative material have a special water-repellent effect. While taking a shower, the water smoothly rolls down without lingering on the smooth surface. A modern product undergoes testing during the production process, so the presence of harmful impurities is completely excluded;
- a mixture of cotton and polyester - as a result of combining natural raw materials and the latest technologies, a fabric that is unique in its quality performance characteristics and has excellent water-repellent properties is obtained.

Opening types
A wide variety of models allows you to choose the most suitable curtain in size and opening method:
- sliding - the most compact design is ideal for installation in a small room where you have to save every centimeter of free space. The ghostly wings of the corner curtain can be easily moved apart, without taking up space either inside or outside the cabin;
- sliding - the model is equipped with a convenient roller mechanism. The process of opening and closing occurs by moving one or two panels to one side. The mechanism works on the principle of a sliding wardrobe;
- hinged - one of the most popular options that allows you to open the doors inward or outward. But to install such a structure you will need more free space. In addition, it is necessary to have reliable rubber seals to prevent water leakage;
- folding - an amazing mechanism that looks more like a screen or a folding accordion. Compact design when folded does not take up much space. When choosing a similar design for a small bathroom, you need to pay close attention to its quality. A folding curtain made by an unscrupulous manufacturer will quickly fail.
When choosing the most suitable type of opening, you should first take into account the size of the room. For combined bathrooms, a folding or sliding curtain is more suitable.

Corner curtain rod for the bathroom: types, comparison of materials, how to install securely
In the article I will look at what corner curtain rods are for bathrooms, and what are the differences between different types. I will give advice on choosing suitable products, and describe the materials used for making a barbell yourself. I'll tell you how to properly attach a corner rod to a wall. What types of bathroom curtain rods are there?
How to install a bar in the bathroom with your own hands so that there is no sagging?
If you have decided to buy a curtain rod for a corner bathtub or are still in the process of ordering, then you should know that the only reliable faucet is the one that is attached to the walls with screws. Some people are put off by this fact. The reasons are different: it’s a pity to drill tiles in the bathroom, I can’t install it myself, I don’t have the necessary tools, etc. But we hasten to console you - a good cornice is bought once and for all (we told you how to choose a good cornice earlier).
The tiles are drilled using special feathers, and the fastenings are covered with decorative caps so that they are not even visible. Installing a curtain rod in a bathroom is generally quite simple. For a person who has accuracy and basic skills in working with a hammer drill, it will not be difficult to install a barbell with your own hands. If you have the necessary skills, then most likely the instructions for installing the rod that are included with each order will be sufficient for you. If more detailed instructions are required, the process is described below.
We also remind you that in St. Petersburg and Moscow we provide a service for installing rods in bathrooms.
Since we offer a range of cornice models for corner baths, and not just one single cornice, in theory, instructions are required for each model. But we will not dwell on the nuances of installing each of them, because... The process as a whole for all models is similar, with the exception of small details (but small details that still need to be paid attention to will be marked with the bold word Important! ).
We consider the installation process using the example of a corner semicircular cornice of the Great for an asymmetrical bathtub . For L-shaped, symmetrical corner, straight, etc. cornices, the installation process is the same.
What tool will you need?
1) Tape measure; 2) Marker or pencil;
3) Hammer with drills (6 mm for Classic / 8 mm for Optima and Great) and feathers (for drilling tiles);
4) Screwdriver or Phillips screwdriver;
5) For Optima and Great models you will also need a hexagon.
other methods
The second option for attaching a bath rod is a wall mount. Such holders are available not only for rectangular, but also corner bathtubs of various sizes. All parts necessary for fastening are sold as a kit.
A little about how to install a bar in the bathroom:
- Place the purchased holder on the edge of the bathtub (taking into account that the curtain should be in a free position inside the bathtub). Mark the points where the rod touches the wall with a pencil.
- Using a building level (or focusing on the vertical seams of ceramic tiles), “move” these points 160-170 centimeters up (here you should proceed from the length of the curtain and the height of the ceilings). If the place where the rod is to be attached coincides with a horizontal or vertical seam between the tiles, move it to one side, otherwise there will be a high probability of a small edge of the tile breaking off when drilling holes in it.
- Remove the end fasteners from the kit included with the rod. Attach them to the wall and use a pencil to mark the places where you need to drill holes.
- Remove the end pieces, drill holes of the required diameter in the wall and carefully hammer the dowels into them. When installing the rod on plasterboard walls, you will have to use special screws or butterfly dowels.
- Attach the end pieces and secure them to the wall with screws.
- Insert the rod into the end pieces.
For corner bathtubs, it is recommended to additionally attach the holder to the ceiling, since simply installing the rod in the bathroom supported by two perpendicular walls will not be very reliable. However, if the ceilings are suspended, it is better to make additional fastening to the wall.
