Review of the best electric built-in ovens 45 cm wide

Features of choosing the height of oven equipment

People who previously had a free-standing standard (60x60 cm) stove before purchasing them pay almost no attention to the fact that ovens come in different parameters. In the interiors of modern kitchens, mini-ovens look more harmonious. It turns out that the height of the built-in oven is important when choosing. It should be matched to any size of the kitchen.

Anyone who plans to not only install an oven, but wants to purchase a model with other parameters, can choose one of the modern small-sized options.

For the old model of the stove, you will need free space of at least 60 cm in width and the same in length.

Due to the fact that the height of the oven in the mini version is usually lower than the standard one, the remaining space can be organized for a shelf or other needs. If the kitchen is spacious, then you can choose between a classic 60x60 cm oven and a mini version, which will free up space in the room.

The capacity of the built-in oven is determined in liters. If the family has 4 to 6 people, the more liters will be required. But the dimensions of the kitchen do not always allow you to buy a large oven of 70+ liters. 40–70 liters is enough to cook food for 4–5 people. An oven with a volume of less than 40 liters is suitable for cooking for 1–2 people.

Distinctive features

Modern models of electric built-in ovens are much more functional than their gas counterparts. are many heating modes implemented here to facilitate the process of preparing various dishes, automatic cleaning, safety and energy saving functions.

However, first of all, I recommend paying attention to the features of embedding such devices. Manufacturers of any ovens provide their instructions in this regard, which is noted in the instruction manual.

Please note that the power of the oven must correspond to the parameters of the electrical network . It is rational to entrust this work to professionals - they will not make mistakes with the electrics, and they will not forget about the ventilation gaps.

Options for volume and height of oven equipment

Depending on the volume chosen, certain benefits can be gained, and free space can provide other benefits. The standard installation height of an oven in Russian stores is about 60 centimeters, and the depth is approximately 55 centimeters.

If the dimensions of the oven are slightly larger, then this is not a problem. In such cases, you can always choose the appropriate countertop where furniture makers will build an oven.

If the kitchen is small and it is not possible to build in a standard-sized oven, you should take a closer look at small-sized ovens with a width of about 45 cm. This option is likely to disappoint those who are used to cooking in large quantities.

You can install a stove with classic parameters - width 60 cm and height up to 50 cm. However, in some cases you will have to sacrifice the set.

When installing, you should consider some nuances:

  • a small stove looks good at 82 cm from the floor;
  • a model with a height of 45 cm and located 46 cm from the floor will need to bend over to put something inside.

The best option for those who rarely cook is to install a stove with parameters of 45x60 cm. For families with many people, it would be advisable to install a standard stove with a width and height of 60 cm. The volume of such equipment is 60–65 liters.

Where to put

The location of the oven depends on its control type. A dependent oven can only be built under a hob, from which the oven will be controlled. If you want to raise the oven above the countertop level, purchase a free-standing model. Any oven location has its pros and cons.

For owners of a kitchen of 5 - 6 m2, it is best to install an oven under the hob, as there may simply not be enough space to install it in a separate cabinet above the level of the countertop.

If the size of the room allows you to make a cabinet for appliances (oven, microwave, coffee machine), then it is convenient to install the oven at a height of 46 - 82 cm from the floor, and place a microwave oven or coffee machine above it. Why such heights? The first size – 46 cm – is the height of one drawer and the height of the base (36 cm + 10 cm). This installation is convenient because you won’t have to bend down to the oven to remove the baking sheet from as low as usual.

The second option is to install the oven above the level of the bedside tables (their height without the countertop is 82 cm). The facades under the oven will be the same in height as the facades of the set. When opening the oven, the baking sheets will be at chest level, which is very convenient - all tilting is eliminated. When installing the oven at this height, keep in mind that when opening the oven door while the oven is running, hot air will hit your face. To avoid this, purchase an oven with a pull-out door rather than a hinged one. If you don’t want to overpay for this option, open the door smoothly, not forgetting the possibility of contact with hot air.

These recommendations are suitable for both ovens with a height of 60 cm and 45 cm. Although you will still have to bend over to an oven with a height of 45 cm, installed at a distance of 46 cm from the floor. It is convenient to install a compact oven at a height of 82 cm. When choosing a kitchen set, look in a furniture showroom at what height it will be convenient for you to use the oven.

At what height should the oven be installed?

The choice of location for a built-in stove depends on the type of control of a particular model. A burner-dependent oven should only be placed under the hob in which the control panel is installed. If you need to install a mini-oven on a countertop with a column, it is recommended to purchase a completely autonomous model.

For a small kitchen, the best installation option is above the hob, since there is not enough space in a separate pencil case above the countertop level. It is worth considering two successful options for installing an oven:

  1. If the dimensions of the furniture accommodate an additional pencil case for a microwave, microwave and coffee machine, then it is recommended to install this type of equipment at a height of 75–83 cm from the floor. This distance will be convenient for an average height person, so as not to bend over when removing the baking sheet.
  2. Place the stove not at the level of the bedside tables, but above them. The height of the cabinets without a countertop is about 82 cm. If you plan to install this type, then you can open the oven door at chest level. This is very convenient because you don't have to bend over. The negative nuance is that when you open the oven at this height, steam will come into your face. To comply with safety measures, it is recommended to choose a model with sliding doors.

Often built-in electric and gas stoves do not fit into a niche whose height is below 598 mm. The block with control handles does not fit.

This problem can be avoided if you buy a convenient type of equipment with smaller parameters for the height of the oven equipment.

These recommendations are suitable for those who have decided to buy such equipment, but cannot decide because of the size of the kitchen and the volume of the oven in which they will need to prepare dishes for a certain number of people.

Gas oven

Advantages:

+

Allows significant savings on energy costs. Installed in houses with gas supply.

+

More economical during operation.

+

Reliability, durability and ease of operation.

+

Supports basic functions: frying, baking, stewing, baking.

What you should pay attention to:

Lack of automatic temperature control.

Frequent use requires purchasing a thermometer.

Standard functionality.

Requires a powerful hood.

It is important to know:

!

Economy class ovens are equipped with one gas burner located in the lower part of the structure. Equipment with a grill function is equipped with a heating element located in the upper part of the chamber. Gas ovens with grills must have additional thermal insulation.

!

When purchasing a gas oven, choose models with the gas control safety function, which is present in all MAUNFELD ovens.

Gas or electric

When choosing a built-in oven for the first time, the buyer most often pays attention to its functions, design and, of course, the heating method. A wide range of choice with many oven heating options available among standard 60cm wide hobs.

The equipment has its own characteristics:

  • narrow ovens have been compared to the appearance of a dishwasher, due to the fact that both options have several switches and a method of heating using electricity;
  • Gas ovens are not as multi-mode as electric ovens.

The choice is more difficult with a compact built-in oven. The reason for this is that most representatives of this type of equipment operate from a power outlet. For example, like a refrigerator, microwave and other kitchen devices. According to reviews from housewives, electric stoves, with each wall 45 cm high, bake better than gas stoves and have a wide range of functions.

Built-in oven width

New large-sized models above 60 cm and wider than 60 cm are also more often found on sale electric. For example, the Bosch brand has only 4 gas stoves, and more than 25 electric stoves.

Standard gas ovens are distinguished by their height and large cooking capacity, about 60–70 liters. It is also important to measure the width of the electric oven when purchasing. The larger it is, the more varied the cooking modes are (from 5 to 12 switchings).

In some countries, kitchens are quite large. There, people can afford to install a large-sized oven with a width of 90 to 120 cm. In Russia, such equipment is not entirely in demand for standard kitchens, but is still on sale.

Main selection criteria

Type of execution

The first thing you need to decide when choosing an oven is whether it will depend on the hob, or whether the appliance will be completely independent. We recommend choosing the second option for the following reasons:

  1. The dependent oven must be located under the hob, as a result of which they cannot be placed in different places.
  2. The interconnected stove and oven are connected to one outlet. Since the equipment is quite powerful, old electrical wiring may not withstand such a load.

As you can see, the disadvantages are significant, so it would be much wiser to choose an independent built-in electric oven.

Dimensions

As a rule, oven sizes are standard. To choose an oven by size, you need to focus on the kitchen set, the depth of which is usually 55 cm. As for the height and width, most models have dimensions of 60 * 60 cm. In turn, the height may be slightly smaller - 45 cm, and the width is the opposite larger - from 90 to 120 cm. When choosing a built-in oven by size, you must first of all focus on the kitchen set and the purpose of the equipment.

Power

In fact, it is far from the most important parameter that you need to pay attention to. The fact is that most often the power of built-in ovens does not exceed 4 kW. The greater the power, the faster the chamber heats up, so you don’t need to focus too much on this issue. The only thing I would like to note is that before choosing an electric oven, make sure that the wiring in the house can withstand a load of 3-4 kW. Otherwise, you will have to replace the electrical wiring in the house with a new one, with copper conductors with a cross-section of at least 2.5 mm2.

Additional functions

To choose a high-quality and at the same time inexpensive oven for the kitchen, you need to know which functions should be present in it and which ones should be discarded. Why pay extra money for something you won't use? So, modern built-in ovens may have the following functionality:

  1. Mechanical or electronic control. Yes, the sensor is more convenient, but it fails more often and affects the price of the equipment. Rotary switches are more reliable and also make the oven cheaper.
  2. Energy class. Should be "A", i.e. the most economical.
  3. Timer. Without it, preparing the dish will be more difficult, because... you will have to constantly look at the time to turn off the oven on time.
  4. Grill and convection heating functions available. Very useful programs, thanks to which you can expand the list of dishes for cooking in the built-in oven. There are also models with microwave function. The cost of such devices will be higher, but the oven can be used as a microwave oven, which is very convenient. In addition, you can choose an electric oven in which you can fry kebabs (models with a spit), prepare yogurt, dry fruit, etc.
  5. Protective shutdown in case of overheating. It is mandatory because protects equipment from emergency situations.
  6. Door cooling fan. Thanks to the additional fan, the door will not heat up and at the same time will protect the surrounding furniture and equipment from heat.
  7. Telescopic guides. With their help, getting a cooked dish (or simply assessing the degree of readiness) will be much easier, and most importantly, you won’t get burned while doing it.
  8. Cleaning system. There may be easy-to-clean enamel, which will have to be hand washed with detergent after each cooking. A more convenient type of cleaning a built-in oven is hydrolysis, in which the detergent is poured into a special tray and the cleaning mode is turned on. After this, fat is removed from the walls much easier. There are also models with catalytic and pyrolytic cleaning, thanks to which fat is independently broken down and removed from the walls of the oven due to the fact that the temperature inside the chamber reaches 500 ° C. Having learned about all the cleaning options, you must choose the most suitable option for your own conditions, focusing on your financial capabilities.
  9. The presence of a temperature probe that can be used to control the temperature of the dish at the very bottom.
  10. Child protection. An equally important function that should not be forgotten.

We also recommend that you familiarize yourself with the opinions of experts on choosing an oven, which we provided in the video:

So we looked at how to choose the right built-in electric oven. Now let's talk about which brands and models of ovens are considered the most reliable in 2020.

Tabletop features

According to the standard, the depth of the tabletop is 60 centimeters. This volume was specially calculated by engineers, calculating the distance the housewife needs, taking into account convenience. Often, a buyer is looking for an oven of this height so that it can be placed not in a countertop, but in the space of a small wall cabinet. In this case, the expected dimensions of the equipment should be smaller than the standard ones.

If medium-sized ovens have a depth of 55 to 60 centimeters, then small-sized ovens are sold with this parameter of 45 cm. Accordingly, such equipment is miniature. It is compact in height, and in width it can fit in a wall cabinet.

Also, small-sized ovens are often purchased to be placed on countertops with columns.

Oven placement tips

If you choose the right oven model, it will match the overall interior of the kitchen. Also, the oven will be easy to open and will not take up much space.

There are several accommodation options:

  1. If there is a pencil case for equipment in the room, then it is recommended to place the stove 75–83 cm from the floor. It is also important to consider the location of the oven relative to the owner’s height. It is important that the digital display and the panel with buttons are in front of the eyes, and the person does not have to bend over.
  2. If you place the stove close to the refrigerator, then such proximity can harm the operation of both appliances. The stove should also not be placed close to the wall. The desired distance between them is 10 cm, if the kitchen is crowded, then 5 cm.
  3. Small ovens from 38 to 55 cm in height of the oven equipment have a microwave function. They also have modes for heating dishes and a timer. This oven will fit even in a cramped kitchen.

Installation type: independent or dependent cabinet

Ovens are divided into dependent and independent.

The dependent cabinet has a common control panel with the hob and is installed under it.

This kit is the same good gas stove, but only built-in.

An independent oven has its own control panel and is in no way dependent on other kitchen appliances.

Typically, such a cabinet is installed in a pencil case along with a microwave.

Also, the independence of the oven allows you to install a hob with any number of burners in the kitchen.

Other sizes of built-in ovens for information

I picked up several instructions that perfectly indicate the dimensions of built-in ovens and the dimensions of the required niches for these ovens.

Bosch oven hbg672bb1f vs Zanussi ovens series zbq 631, zbq 861 oven ELECTROLUx 53410AK Size of niches for the ELECTROLUX oven

Today, many people, when choosing a built-in electric or gas oven, are only interested in the number of its functions, heating method, appearance and forget about such important things as dimensions. And most often this concerns owners of free-standing slabs, since their sizes usually correspond to standards: 50 or 60 centimeters. Built-in ovens have a wider range of sizes. They are also divided into dependent and independent.

It is much easier to work with independent models and choose the oven itself and the hob for it. If you just decide to replace your old oven with a new one, then you can simply buy another model of the same size, since you already know the dimensions of your niche.

How to choose: what to look for?

Before purchasing an oven, you need to decide on its type and functionality.

Many buyers often cannot understand the wide range of devices, so they should study in advance the parameters on the basis of which the choice is made.

Control system

There are 2 types of control : electronic and electromechanical.

The electronic type is characterized by the presence of a touch panel, which includes all the necessary modes and buttons.

On a special display you can see information about the selected mode, temperature and cooking time.

Electronic-mechanical control is carried out using rotary switches.

This type of equipment is often purchased by older people, as it is easier for them to understand rotating handles than touch buttons.

Oven cleaning methods

Washing a cabinet takes a lot of time, so models have appeared on the market that can eliminate this routine work.

There are 4 methods for cleaning ovens:

  1. Catalytic. The enamel that covers the inner walls of the chamber contains catalysts. They are oxides of manganese and copper. At high temperatures, chemicals break down fat into carbon and water. The resulting soot is subsequently easily removed with a damp cloth.
  2. Steam-water. The fat is exposed to hot water steam. It is obtained naturally - by heating water, and is supplied to the walls of the chamber using special holes. To enable the steam-water cleaning function, the user needs to pour water into a special container and preheat the oven.
  3. Pyrolytic. The oven is heated to +500°C, after which the decomposition of fat and other contaminants occurs by burning them into ash. This is an effective method that does not require any outside effort. However, many buyers note that there is an unpleasant odor in the kitchen during cleaning.
  4. Traditional. This is a cleaning method using water, a sponge and cleaning agents. Due to the fact that the inner walls of the chamber are covered with waterproof enamel, dirt and grease easily come off the surface if you wash it every time after cooking.

Oven dimensions and installation rules

A standard oven has dimensions of 60x60x56 cm , in it you can cook a large dish for 4-6 servings.

However, in some cases a custom-sized cabinet is required.

Low models, 38-55 cm high, most often have a microwave oven function, which means they can replace it if there is not enough space.

Regardless of the dimensions of the oven, the depth of the chamber in all models is approximately the same - 60 cm.

Equipment

The device always includes a pair of baking trays and racks.

The availability of all other items is determined by the cost of the oven.

Baking trays can be non-stick or enamel coated and come in different sizes and depths.

Culinary functionality

Each individual appliance is equipped with various functions that are difficult to do without when preparing food.

The most relevant functions are:

  1. Heating modes. Each model has at least two heating elements. They can work separately or simultaneously. More advanced devices have an additional built-in fan, which helps ensure even baking of the dish.
  2. Additional modes. Modern ovens can not only bake food, but also defrost it. Defrosting occurs under the influence of a fan with heating up to 30°C. Also, some models have modes for simmering and fermenting food.
  3. Steamer function. More expensive models are equipped with this function. Steaming, unlike frying, helps avoid the loss of nutrients and vitamins.
  4. Microwave module. Allows you to combine two appliances in one device: an oven and a microwave. In addition, an oven with a microwave mode improves the ergonomics of the room, without giving up a useful device.
  5. Automatic programs. A function that allows housewives to set the correct temperature for preparing a particular dish. To do this, you need to use the search and select the appropriate mode.
  6. Rotisserie. This feature will appeal to meat lovers. The spit ensures uniform roasting of the whole bird placed on it.
  7. Temperature probe. This modification allows you to monitor the temperature of the meat both inside and outside the piece.

Oven door

When purchasing an oven, you should pay attention to the door. It should be securely fixed and easily recline.

If the folding mechanism familiar to many is inconvenient for the buyer, then he can pay attention to models with hinged doors - they open to the side.

Heating modes

Built-in electric ovens have 3 heating modes:

Bottom heating —heating the bottom surface of the chamber. Warm air rises, bypassing the dish.

This mode is used for products that do not require heating from above.

Top heating —heating the upper surface of the chamber.

The air slowly falls down. This mode is used for baking the top part of the dish.

Double-sided heating - a combination of top and bottom heating. Heat is distributed evenly throughout the entire volume of the chamber.

Power and energy efficiency

The minimum temperature for a budget oven should be 250°C.

A power of 2.5-3 kW is sufficient to carry out most tasks. Sophisticated models have increased power - 3.5-4 kW .

Types of built-in ovens

First of all, when choosing an oven, you need to choose its type. Thus, a dependent oven is equipped with a control panel that regulates both the functions of the oven and the hob that is compatible with it. Typically, such an oven is mounted under the hob, since it is part of a set of built-in dependent appliances. Independent ovens have their own independent control panel and can be placed at the discretion of the owner.

The design of independent built-in ovens significantly expands the possibilities of their installation.

Also, before purchasing a high-quality oven, you need to decide on the source of energy used for cooking. Traditional built-in ovens are gas cabinets that operate on top and bottom heating modes, as well as on artificial air ventilation and without a fan. They are usually equipped with a set of grill, spit, gas control and electric ignition. This oven significantly saves energy and is suitable for buildings with overloaded wiring, but it requires an exhaust hood (ideally). More popular are electric ovens, which have all sorts of functions and cooking modes. They are compatible with all hobs and allow you to set precise temperatures, as well as automatic programs for specific products and dishes. Their main disadvantage is their high energy consumption, but manufacturers are working on this.

What additional functionality should you pay attention to?

Additional functionality that you should pay attention to during purchase:

  1. Thermostat is a function responsible for additional safety. If the oven overheats, all heating elements turn off.
  2. Timer - automatically turns off the equipment at the end of the program and notifies you that the dish is ready with a sound signal.

Many housewives also pay attention to the presence of such programs as: “Stewing” and “Simmering”.

These functions are specially designed for slow cooking at low temperatures.

Top 6 oven models

When purchasing a kitchen appliance, you should rely not only on its characteristics, but also on the manufacturer.

  1. Gorenje BO 53 CLI is an oven with a rich set of equipment, created according to an ancient design.
  2. Electrolux EZB 52410 AX is an inexpensive but reliable oven with a clear and safe control method.
  3. Hansa BOEI62000015 is a high-quality oven with good characteristics.
  4. Bosch CMG636BS1 is a model with compact dimensions and electronic control.
  5. Kuppersberg HO 655 T is a device from the middle price segment with a design that is familiar to the eye.
  6. BEKO BIE 21300 W is a budget electric oven with a very presentable appearance.

Fornelli FEA 45 Sonata

Fornelli FEA 45 Sonata is an excellent model of an independent electric oven. I would like to note right away that you will not receive high electricity bills - class A will allow you to use resources economically . In addition, this is a good solution for a small kitchen. Compact dimensions and laconic design add to the list of advantages.

You can safely count on high functionality. What does it mean? – any recipes from grandma’s cookbook can be successfully prepared in practice. 9 heating modes, a powerful grill (by the way, 2000 W!!!) and convection will help you with this

In general, I would characterize the range of advantages of this model as follows:

  • I liked the excellent configuration of the model and additional functions. At a very reasonable price, the manufacturer offers you a spit, two baking sheets, a grid, telescopic guides, a safety shutdown, and high-quality cooling;
  • removable collapsible door - believe me, this will make cleaning much easier for you;
  • Given its compact dimensions, I was surprised by the oven’s capacity. You can bake any large dish;
  • The lack of child protection is compensated by recessed switches - a child will not be able to disable the program.

The disadvantages include the abstruse design of telescopic guides . Even I, as a professional, took a few minutes to figure out how they work. Catalytic cleaning will make maintenance easier, but will not get rid of it altogether . You will have to wipe down the oven after each use if you don't want it to become covered in grease.

Useful video

This video provides an overview of the best electric ovens:

Buying an oven for your kitchen means providing yourself with an excellent assistant and having ample opportunities for cooking a wide variety of dishes. A wide variety of similar household appliances are produced by industry. This is an electric or gas oven, the dimensions and volumes of which can be standard, with a body width of 60 cm and a depth of 55 cm, or non-standard, with smaller or larger dimensions. The products also differ in their operational properties: installation method, the presence of different modes used for cooking, and additional capabilities. Therefore, before purchasing equipment, it is important to determine the dimensions of the niche for building in an oven and become familiar with the characteristics of the models in detail. This will allow you to buy the best option for the device without spending extra money on options that you may never need.

Korting OKB 4604 CRC

Korting OKB 4604 CRC is an independent electric oven presented in a classic design . You'll love the bronze-look rotary controls, the stylish door handle, and other nice features. If your kitchen is in a classic or retro style, this device will fit there just perfectly.

I’ll immediately note the compact dimensions of the model, which does not compromise functionality. The width of the device is 45 cm , which is optimal for a small kitchen or where you do not want to clutter the space with household appliances.

I can characterize the spectrum of positive properties as follows:

  • 6 heating modes - you can cook any dish using different heating elements located in different parts of the oven;
  • catalytic self-cleaning - the oven itself will break down contaminants deposited on the surface of the walls. You will spend a minimal amount of time cleaning;
  • slight heating of the glass - cooking will be safe, special materials reduce the temperature of the front surface to a minimum. You can count on reduced energy consumption;
  • automatic shutdown is another contribution to operational safety. The oven will stop working on its own if you suddenly forget to turn it off;
  • effective automatic cooling - rest assured that the furniture profile will not be damaged by the hot front panels of the device.

I can't help but note a number of small amenities such as an electronic timer, a retro-style clock, and metal rotary controls.

However, it was not without its drawbacks:

  • lack of child protection - if your family has a child, I would recommend paying attention to competing models equipped with this function;
  • All the wonderful design, unfortunately, turned out to be short-lived in practice. The copper styling of the handles wears off quickly, and the coating on the front panel is rather weak. On the sixth day of use, you will be tormented by fingerprints.

How to choose an oven

To select oven equipment, you must first determine its type. Will it be an electric or gas oven. The second option is usually cheaper and does not require electricity during operation, but many people prefer to use electric ovens, although they have a gas supply in the apartment.

The market offers a large selection of similar equipment for integration into kitchen sets. They differ in technical characteristics and capabilities. User reviews and sales consultants from specialized stores help determine which model is better. Experts advise adhering to the following rules:

  • before purchasing a model, you need to determine its location and the size of the niche for the oven;
  • determine the list of technical properties of the unit, including the dimensions of ovens built into the cabinet, and additional capabilities that will be required during operation: cooking, the presence of an automatic cleaning system, and others;
  • instruct the designer who is decorating the kitchen to choose the color and appearance of the product, or do it yourself, taking into account the style in the room where the appliance will be placed;
  • choose the right company that produces such equipment so that it is reliable and has the opportunity to carry out maintenance and warranty repairs in the region where the potential user lives;
  • The cost of the devices is also important; this indicator often determines the choice of a specific model.

When choosing electric ovens, it is important to consider the type of design. He can be dependent and independent.

The first type of device works only in conjunction with a cooking panel. The oven cannot be operated separately from this stove. Both units are interconnected and controlled by one module, often located on the front of the equipment - on its door. In the event of a breakdown, lengthy diagnostics will be required to determine which device failed. This will make it impossible to cook food.

When choosing a model of an independent type, there is no need to purchase a hob. In addition, such a household appliance can be installed anywhere in the kitchen: in a specially designated niche or under the hob. If the oven breaks down, this stove will continue to operate.

Once the type of device has been selected, the height of the electrical cabinet must take into account the operational characteristics of the equipment:

  • the power of household appliances, which affects the heating temperature of the internal chamber;
  • process control system: electronic on the display with touch pressing to select a program or electronic-mechanical with simple equipment control using rotary levers to regulate temperature, heating mode and operating time;
  • the presence of a steamer, grill, and special spit for preparing delicious baked poultry, fish, and beef;
  • Are there telescopic guides for smooth opening of the product door and a timer that will accurately indicate the operating time of the electric oven.

Any household electrical equipment for the kitchen must be safe and have special built-in systems:

  • child lock;
  • protective shutdown;
  • electric ignition: electronic or mechanical.

Many built-in devices have cleaning systems. They are:

  • pyrolytic – burning off fat and carbon deposits at a temperature of 500 ° C, followed by removing carbon deposits with a damp rag;
  • hydrolytic - a baking tray with water is placed inside the oven, the required mode is started and deactivation is carried out, evaporation separates the carbon deposits from the walls;
  • catalytic - for equipment with an internal surface coated with catalytic enamel, which absorbs fat and fumes, turning them into water and carbon.

Self-cleaning devices are available, which require regular preventive cleaning without detergents.

The design of a built-in oven is not the main point when choosing it. But you need to take into account its appearance; it must match the design of the furniture and the interior of the entire kitchen.

Electric ovens

Advantages:

+

Advanced functionality: from basic modes to automatic cooking programs.

+

Automatic adjustment of temperature and cooking time.

+

No open flame – improved fire safety.

+

Ease of use.

+

Several heating elements allow you to heat any dish evenly.

What to pay attention to:

Relatively high cost.

Refers to energy-intensive equipment.

It is important to know:

!

Advanced models of electric ovens include a programmable control system that allows you to prepare dishes according to complex recipes.

Types of ovens by installation method

The oven is not always located under the hob. Some models of gas or electric ovens are installed separately.

A dependent oven is installed in conjunction with a hob and has the following advantages:

  • Compact – ideal for small spaces.
  • Convenient control panel located on the front of the case.
  • Attractive price.

The disadvantage of such a cabinet is that the oven and hob have a single control system, which, if it breaks down, disables both units at once.

An independent oven does not have additional modules. The equipment can be installed in any convenient location.

Advantages of independent ovens:

  • Installed without a hob at any level from the floor (the most comfortable location is at chest level).
  • The units support additional functions: defrosting, heating ready-made dishes, steamer, grill.

When installing an oven of any type, it is necessary to organize a hood. Special equipment will clean the room from unpleasant odors and combustion products (smoke, fumes). Hoods also prevent grease from settling on the surface of household appliances, kitchen furniture, walls, and floors.

Operating modes, main functions of ovens

When choosing an oven, it is important to consider the supported heating modes and the functionality of the equipment. Gas ovens can only heat the dish from below or from below and from above. Electric ovens provide bottom, top and side heating, including convection, grill, and ventilation heating.

Modern and more expensive models of gas ovens additionally support convection mode. The equipment is equipped with a fan, which is installed in the rear wall of the oven chamber. The fan creates circulation of heated air around the perimeter of the entire chamber. Due to this, dishes are baked evenly on each side.

Such ovens require a special type of burners that are not blown out during fan operation. This significantly increases the cost of equipment.

Gas ovens equipped with a grill allow you to cook food over coals. The gas grill can be used without convection mode. This mode is suitable for cooking large dishes. A gas grill will give you the opportunity to cook a dish with a crispy, aromatic crust. The grill is also used for drying berries, fruits and other products containing a large amount of juice.

Electric ovens have a convection mode. It significantly expands the functionality of the equipment. Convection in ovens makes it possible to cook dishes at a faster rate. The heating process involves not only tubular electric heaters, but also fans that circulate heated air through the chamber.

The dish is fried on all sides and comes out with an appetizing crust.

The grill in electric ovens can be standard or with the function of additional air flow. An electric grill distributes heat evenly and allows you to set the exact temperature. The equipment is equipped with an additional thermal element that creates thermal radiation. Grilled dishes are crispy on all sides and retain their juiciness and tenderness.

Electric ovens also support the following operating modes:

Defrosting Defrosting of semi-finished products, meat, fish or ready meals is carried out using a fan. In this case, the heating elements are turned off.
Fast defrost During the defrosting process, only one heating element operates at minimum power. The products are blown with warm air using a fan.
Standard heating Allows you to use top, bottom or side heaters (individually or in combination).
Cooking at different levels All heating elements and fans are used during the cooking process. With this function, you can simultaneously cook several dishes located on different baking sheets or racks.
Browning This mode is used to obtain a golden crust. Only top heating is used.

An oven equipped with convectors is excellent for preparing golden baked goods, drying mushrooms, berries, and fruits. Units equipped with fans will allow you to cook food at lower temperatures.

The MAUNFELD company produces ovens with a steamer function. These ovens are equipped with steam generators, which makes it possible to steam dietary dishes.

Dimensions and useful volume

The range includes the following oven sizes:

  • standard – 60 x 60 cm;
  • compact – 60 x 45 cm;
  • narrow – 45 x 60 cm;
  • wide – 90 x 60 cm;
  • wide compact – 90 x 45 cm.

The volume of the oven depends on its width:

  • 45 cm – from 32 to 45 liters;
  • 60 cm – from 50 to 67 liters;
  • more than 60 cm – from 67 to 110 liters.

Compact and narrow models are optimally suited for installation in a small kitchen. Standard and full-size ovens have a height of 60 or 90 centimeters.

The average usable oven volume is from 50 to 70 liters. This parameter is sufficient for preparing a large number of dishes.

When choosing the dimensions of the equipment, you should take into account that there should be gaps of 10-15 millimeters between the oven and the walls of the niche.

Cleaning

How to clean the oven? Many owners of new ovens face this question. There are several cleaning methods:

  • manual;
  • catalytic;
  • pyrolytic;
  • steam;
  • easy to clean enamel.

Black and gray enamel (high grade) easy to clean

The coating has no pores, therefore it repels water, grease and dirt; it is made of special enamel with special properties for breaking down fat deposited on the walls, which makes it easy to clean its surface. It also protects the surface from aggressive influences that cause metal corrosion. This coating is resistant to scratches, aggressive cleaners and high temperatures. Cleaning will be easy and the device will last a very long time.

Quartz sand, feldspar and soda are used to produce enamel. When these components melt, a transparent base is formed. Adding silencers to it allows you to get shiny and beautiful enamel. All components are natural substances, so the finished enamel is environmentally friendly and hygienic.

The main advantages of easy-to-clean enamel are resistance to acids, the formation of which occurs during the heat treatment of foods with a high sugar content.

This coating greatly facilitates manual cleaning of the oven and accessories. The inner surface is resistant to impacts, scratches and acids.

The service life of such a coating is equivalent to the service life.

Standard size ovens

Many models produced by industry have certain sizes of built-in home appliances. For ovens: 60 cm width, and the standard depth is 55 cm. The niches of many kitchen furniture sets are designed for it.

To choose the right standard gas oven, the following must be taken into account:

  • kitchen area;
  • appearance of the model;
  • presence of gas exhaust;
  • oven dimensions with standard oven;
  • own taste preferences.

Types of ovens

Based on the type of connection, ovens are divided into gas and electric.

Gas ovens are available in a wide range of models. The equipment is suitable for use in apartments and private houses connected to a centralized gas supply system. In such ovens, the high temperature is maintained by the flame of a gas burner, which is located in the lower part of the oven chamber.

Modern models are equipped with a gas control system that prevents gas leakage in the event of a fire extinguishment.

Electric ovens are multifunctional (compared to gas ovens). This technique is suitable for houses where there is no connection to the main gas.

Electric ovens support various heating and operating modes. The heating elements in them are located at the bottom, top and side. Thanks to this arrangement, dishes are baked and fried evenly.

Compact microwave ovens are a type of electric oven. This technique is characterized by rapid heating and allows you to fry food on all sides. Heating elements in ovens are located on the sides, top and bottom.

An oven with a microwave function will be an alternative to the usual microwave. Equipment in microwave mode allows you to warm up or defrost a dish, and in combination with a regular heating or grill mode, the user can bake a dish and keep its crispy crust.

But which oven should you choose? Let's look at the advantages and disadvantages of gas and electric ovens.

Ovens of non-standard height

Non-standard oven sizes are often used in the manufacture of equipment with a microwave function. Its feature is its low height, which can be in the range of 38–55 cm, depending on the type of model. For example, the Bosch company - the dimensions of its non-standard oven are: 38.2x59.4x31.8 cm, respectively - height, width, depth of the product.

Models can be higher in height than standard ones and have larger dimensions. Often this is equipment that additionally has another built-in electric oven. The design consists of two separate chambers, placed one above the other - one main chamber with a larger volume, and an additional one with a smaller one, it contains a set of basic programs. At the same time, an electric oven with standard dimensions cannot accommodate two chambers, so as not to damage the volume, so its height is selected up to 90 cm. The width and depth of built-in cabinets are the same as for standard products.

It is very important to choose the right size kitchen set for your built-in oven. It should be such that electric ovens are not only convenient to use, but also safe. For a built-in oven, the cabinet cabinet to integrate the oven unit must be slightly larger so that the equipment does not touch its walls.

Based on the volume of the chamber, devices are conventionally divided into classes. They are:

  • spacious - 70 liters;
  • medium with a standard volume of 60 liters;
  • compact - holds up to 40 liters;
  • mini-ovens from 5 to 20 liters of volume.

Whatever model you choose, its purpose is to meet your needs.

Narrow and wide ovens

Custom built-ins are low, narrow or wide. A narrow product is convenient to choose if you need to build an oven into small-width cabinets. But it should be borne in mind that such models have a small internal volume. This will not allow you to bake a large cake or a whole goose stuffed with apples. On a small baking sheet you cannot bake pies for a family of more than 4 people at a time.

The depth of the built-in oven also plays a role. A tabletop with a depth of 55 cm is considered standard. This size is calculated taking into account the free space that the housewife needs when working. Most models are produced with the following oven dimensions: width – 60 cm, depth – 55 cm. But sometimes the built-in oven needs to be placed not under the countertop, but in a small wall cabinet. In this case, the dimensions of the product are chosen to be different from those of the standard oven dimensions.

In a room with a small area, the built-in oven is selected with a width of 45 cm. But if you need to cook a large amount of food, it is better that the oven built into the cabinet has a height of 45 cm and a width of 60 cm. This version of kitchen appliances is much more convenient to use than the previous one: here you can bake dishes on one baking sheet, with the same volume of food as with a product width of 45 cm, which significantly reduces the cooking time.

If necessary, you can purchase a model with a standard height, but increased to 70 cm or 90 cm in width. They are produced in limited quantities and are very overpriced.

For a large family, it is better to choose an oven with a width of 60 cm or 70 cm, with a volume of 65 or 67 liters. If you cook frequently, you should purchase the following dimensions for a built-in oven: width – 60 cm, height – 45 cm. For those who don’t care about the size of the oven, the best option would be a device with a width of 45 cm and a height of 60 cm.

Variations with volume

What opportunities does changing the standard oven dimensions provide? The vast majority of ovens sold in Russia have dimensions of about 60 cm in height and width, and about 55 cm in depth. Plus or minus a centimeter in the size of the oven should not scare you; adjusting the bedside table to your appliance is the concern of furniture makers; provide them with technical documentation for the purchased (or planned to purchase) oven. This oven is suitable if you have a large enough kitchen, at least 8 - 9 m2.

If your kitchen has a lot of appliances, or you have a small room, you can purchase an oven 45 cm wide. Of course, the internal volume of such an oven will be significantly smaller. You will have to choose what to sacrifice: useful volume in the kitchen set or useful volume in the oven. If you like to cook in the oven and do not do it for 1 - 2 people, then it is best to buy an oven with a width of 60 cm and a height of 45 cm. Perhaps this option is more convenient than the previous one: after all, such an oven will fit a wide baking tray with a fairly large volume of food, then as in a 45 cm wide oven you will have to cook on two baking sheets, which increases the cooking time.

More options for oven widths with standard heights: 70 cm and 90 cm. There is a limited choice of ovens of this width, and their price is significantly higher.

We figured out the dimensions: for a large family, we take an oven 60 cm or 70 cm wide, paying attention to the internal volume (65 - 67 liters). For those who like to frequently cook in the oven, we recommend paying attention to appliances with a width of 60 cm and a height of 45 cm. If you use the oven less than once a week and want to make the most of the internal space of the kitchen unit, an oven 45 cm X 60 cm (width, height) is yours option.

Gas or electricity

The first question when choosing an appliance is which oven to choose for the kitchen: gas or powered. When connecting a house to a centralized gas supply, the buyer selects a ready-made gas model. But in order to choose the right product, it is worth getting acquainted with the advantages and disadvantages of each type.

Gas today is cheaper than electricity, so to save money during operation, a gas built-in oven is more profitable. In addition, the advantages of gas equipment include:

  • a gas burner provides quick heating compared to its electric counterpart;
  • there is no need to lay electrical networks required when using devices;
  • simplicity of design, which simplifies the operation and maintenance of equipment;
  • no special skills required for use;
  • the price of gas models is usually lower than electric ones.

The disadvantages of gas-powered products include:

  • more dangerous equipment compared to electrical equipment;
  • fewer functions;
  • For electrical structures, the heating temperature of the working chamber is higher.

In addition, it is worth remembering that maintenance, any repairs, dismantling of equipment and connecting it to the system should only be performed by experienced specialists with a certificate of admission to servicing gas equipment.

Electric ovens have greater capabilities. Therefore, they are in great demand among consumers. In finished ovens, elements for heating the working space are located on all sides, including the top and bottom of the chamber. Different dishes can be prepared using a combination of different heating elements. For example, a combination of top and bottom heaters using convection or grilling. The main advantages of electric ovens are:

  • uniform heating at high speed;
  • the ability to select the desired function, which is ensured by the presence of automatic programs and cooking modes for various dishes;
  • the cooking temperature range ranges from 30 °C to 300 °C;
  • the presence of convection allows you to evenly distribute hot air throughout the entire volume of the oven and bake several dishes at once on different levels with an appetizing golden crust;
  • possibility of use in the absence of a gas supply network and bottled gas;
  • safety during operation.

Among the most popular are built-in ovens manufactured by Bosch.

Plus & minus

Not all gas cabinets are equipped with a top heating element - a grill. Manufacturers often include an electric grill in gas ovens, so it is necessary to connect the oven to an outlet. Some gas models provide a number of additional functions, also powered by electricity: gas control, spit, ignition and others.

A gas heating source still remains more economical, but it does not provide the same variety of options as built-in electric ovens. The sizes of these two varieties are practically the same on average, but electric ovens provide their owners with additional services for preparing dishes and make the cooking process easier and more enjoyable.

One of the main advantages of electric models is that the temperature can be set with an accuracy of several degrees, and then its level is maintained throughout the entire cooking process. In addition, the dish is heated from all sides, which allows the food to be baked more thoroughly, evenly and quickly.

In addition to two heating elements - top and bottom - the electric oven has a convection mode, thanks to which the food is browned evenly on all sides. There are also devices for maintaining uniform temperature in the oven chamber.

A wide variety of temperature conditions - from 30 to 300 ° C - makes it possible to prepare dishes that a gas equivalent cannot handle, which makes electric ovens even more attractive. Their built-in dimensions also depend on the number of ovens in the model: for example, there are variations with an additional oven, which allows you to cook several dishes in parallel.

The disadvantage of an electric oven is its energy consumption; however, if you don’t use it regularly, it won’t have much of an impact on your electricity bills.
