Interior of a children's room for children of different sexes: photo

Before you start renovating your nursery, you need to think through the plan carefully.

It is worth dividing the room into two equal parts and trying to give each half its individuality.

The child should have his own work and play area, where he can feel like he’s in charge.

There are the following options for dividing space:

  • diagonal;
  • parallel;
  • undivided.

A children's room for children of different sexes is arranged not only depending on the above points, but also on the size of the room.

Another important parameter is the age of the children. If the kids are small, then number 3 would be an excellent option.

It is great for children with a small age difference who like to spend time playing together. It will be enough to install separate beds, leaving the rest of the room for children's games.

Options 1 and 2 are suitable for teenagers when everyone has their own interests. The key element in the room will be the partition; you don’t have to make a wall, you can just put a large closet or desk.

But this is not suitable for a large room. If the nursery has several windows, then a diagonal arrangement would be ideal.

And parallel is more suitable for square rooms, because such a division in a narrow space looks simply ridiculous.

Inspiration for organizing a children's room

You need to focus not so much on the beauty of the room, but on its practical functionality. It is important to make sure that neither the daughter nor the son has any awkwardness and has personal space.

Before starting work and selecting materials and furniture, designers recommend looking at a selection of photos of a children's room for children of different sexes.

Cozy children's room 15 sq m for a boy in the style of a beach house

Children's room - in a private house. This room is not quite the right shape, and to make it clear where it is, the owners drew a plan:

The decoration of the room was completed recently and lasted about 4 months.

The son of the apartment owners went to 2nd grade in September, so the most important thing was to create a workplace where the child would be happy to do his homework.

The room does not have a clear theme, but some ideas from Scandinavian children's rooms were taken as a basis. I also really hope that we achieved the “beach house by the sea” feeling.

Part of the room is under the attic roof, where the recreation area is located. We bought the bed at one of the Ikea stores. The mattress is orthopedic, from the Belarusian manufacturer Vegas.

Most of the room is covered with glass wallpaper coated with Caparol Samtex paint. The walls are easy to clean; they are not afraid of even the smallest vandals, who try to spill carrot juice on them or accidentally drop pizza.

Part of the wall is covered with clapboard, which the parents painted together with the child and painted stars under a stencil.

The role of the bedside table is currently played by a chair, on which from time to time the mother slips books to her son. Alas, the son is not a reader, but mother is more cunning.

While the owners have not yet fully decided what kind of lamp they need, so for a while the parents shared their floor lamp, which fit well.

Shelf made by BRW, Indiana collection. Purchased from the BRW company store. Comfortable and roomy, but the quality leaves much to be desired.

Near the window is a work/study area. The table consists of two spacious cabinets and a table top. There is a table lamp, a chair, and an Ikea rail with containers for storing office supplies. The magazine mailbox was purchased from a local mall.

The shutters on the windows are the “handiwork” of mother and son. The role of shutters is played by ordinary louvered doors.

The other part of the room is the playroom.

On the walls there is wallpaper from the German manufacturer AC Creation Surf & Sailing, which was glued horizontally. The wall near the window was painted with Tikkurila chalkboard paint - an excellent solution for those who like to draw on wallpaper.

Doors (solid pine under enamel) - Postavy furniture center.

Well, what child didn’t dream of a tent as a child? Wonderful thing! It does not always stand assembled, depending on the mood. It folds up in a minute and unfolds just as quickly.

Legos, blocks, construction sets, cars and other toys have found their place in plastic containers. We bought one of the most inexpensive storage systems, since after 2-3 years of such a plan the toys will lose relevance and will be replaced by other interests. Then it will be possible to refurbish this part of the room by removing the storage system.

There is a thick black roller blind on one of the windows. Over time, it is also planned to hang a roller blind on the second small window, but in a light color. It will be attached directly to the glass unit.

When testing the children's room, the parents noticed that there were not enough “seating” places, so they bought a pouf in the form of a well-worn container at a local shopping center. It can be used as additional storage space. But there are no carpets in the room and there never will be.

Estimate (in Russian rubles):

  1. Lamps - 6900.
  2. Bed - 10300.
  3. Mattress - 17100.
  4. Laminate - 17100.
  5. Tent - 6900.
  6. Table - 15100.
  7. Storage system and cabinet - about 27,500.
  8. Rack BRV - 8900.
  9. All wallpapers are 20600.
  10. Roller blind - 2700.
  11. Shutters and painting - 3400.
  12. Black paint for chalk boards - 2100.
  13. Doors - 10300.
  14. Poof - 2100.

Total: about 151,000.

Subtleties in planning a nursery

When arranging a nursery, you need to take into account that boys and girls can have diametrically different tastes and interests, moreover, a daughter and a son can be of different ages. The main rule, therefore, is to zone the room.

If children are adults, then they can be involved in space planning. This minimizes the amount of discontent and quarrels between brother and sister. If they cannot yet clearly express their taste preferences, then they will have to take everything upon themselves.

The design of a children's room for children of different sexes includes many aspects. Here is the general color scheme, selection of lighting, furniture, textiles, and decor.

Ideas for children's rooms for children of different sexes can and should be drawn from books, films, cartoons, and children's favorite characters.

Design options

  1. The first option is gender-neutral interior design of a children's room for children of different sexes. As a color solution in this case, you should avoid characteristic “feminine” and “male” shades: pink, lilac, blue, blue. White, beige, brown, gray, green, yellow and orange tones look attractive from the point of view of boys and girls.

You can decorate the interior of a children's room for children of different sexes in a certain theme, for example, the jungle, fairy tales, the sea. The main thing is to consult with the children themselves during the process. Let your brother and sister help you choose an option that suits both of them.

The furniture design in such a common room should be universal. To save space, you can install a bunk bed. Your son will surely enjoy climbing onto the top tier, and your daughter will be able to snuggle up on the bottom bed with her dolls.

Textiles, in particular bed linen, should be selected with neutral patterns - stripes, polka dots, checkered patterns - or even plain ones. You can choose prints that are suitable for both boys and girls - plant motifs (except flowers), fish, animals, birds.

  1. The second option is to allocate a personal area in the interior for each of the children. If a girl dreams of living in a dollhouse or a fairy tale house, and a boy likes cars, let everyone have their own space.

Beds should be placed in different parts of the room, and the walls should be decorated in different ways. For boys' and girls' areas, it is important to choose harmoniously combined colors, for example, pink and blue, and leave the overall space in neutral colors. It is important that children also take maximum part in creating the interior, especially their corners.

Let the kids help decorate the walls near their beds. You can hang photographs or children's drawings there; a board for drawing with a marker or chalk will look original if kids like to create.

Tip: Decorative interior stickers are perfect for decorating walls and furniture in a children's room. They are easy to attach and remove, since the design of the nursery often has to be refreshed along with the changing interests of the children.

If the dimensions of a children's room make it possible to separate zones not only due to decoration, light curtains or screens that cover beds and personal space are suitable for this purpose. For older children, you can zone the room using shelving or a closet. Options for decorating a nursery for a boy and a girl can be seen in the photo.

Color solutions for decorating a children's space

The interior should be made in cheerful, but not too bright colors. This is important to create a positive but not overstimulating environment.

Considering that children are of different genders, you should not give preference to purely boyish or girlish colors. You can mix paint or wallpaper colors to respect the zoning of a children's room for two different children.

Colors such as pink and gray, brown and peach, blue and white are successfully combined. You can take one color, but different shades of it. For example, green, yellow, chocolate, etc.

Walls, ceiling

A nursery for a boy or a girl can be decorated with multi-colored walls - a very original and interesting option. When choosing colors, you can ask the children themselves how well the chosen color scheme matches their tastes and desires? And the choice of children is not always limited to pink (for girls) and blue (for boys). Green, yellow, orange, peach, purple and other colors are often chosen.

In addition, when choosing colors you need to consider:

  • Which side do the room’s windows face (that is, how long and intensely will the sun shine or will it always be dark in the room?);
  • What color furniture is expected to be placed?
  • How do children prefer to decorate the walls in their halves?
  • What character traits do each of them have?

Today, there are many published recommendations on color therapy, criteria for selecting the dominant colors in the environment, depending on lifestyle and defining personality traits.

Furniture for children's room

Furniture must be selected according to the age of the children. In any case, the daughter and son should have their own separate sleeping places. Double-decker beds successfully play out the space.

It is also necessary to think about workplaces where they will study and engage in educational leisure activities. Everyone should have their own area, as well as places to store clothes. It is not necessary for everyone to have a closet, but the child should have his own shelf.

Location and area of the nursery

How do you know if there is enough space in a room for two children? You can refer to the recommendations of sanitary standards. In accordance with them, one child requires a space of at least 8 square meters. m. Despite the fact that the ceiling height must be at least 260 cm. As for two people, this figure is multiplied by one and a half times. That is, a bedroom with an area of 12-16 square meters. m. is quite suitable for two children. Of course, you will have to try hard to fit everything you need in a minimal space.

For growing children, you need to allocate the brightest, most spacious and warm room in the house. It will first have to undergo repair work. Actions such as:

  • additional insulation of external walls;
  • replacing old window frames with new sealed ones with ventilation function;
  • equipment of several light sources;
  • purchase of specialized furniture.

Common space in the children's room

The common space could be a play area, a sports corner, perhaps the children will have a shared sofa for watching TV, a computer.

Furniture for a children's room for children of different sexes should be selected that is multifunctional, ergonomic and, preferably, durable. Children love to have outdoor games and it is important that the furniture does not break due to their chasing and jumping.

Space for games

Having decided on the theme of the design, it is worth starting to plan the children's room. It is necessary to provide an area for active games in which other children can participate.

There should be free space in the room. Children love to play on the floor, so you should purchase a soft carpet, a special mat, or lay down carpet.

The color scheme should be bright and attractive, and at the same time harmonize with the overall interior.

How to share children's intimate space

When creating the space for a children's room, you need to decide where your son and daughter will spend the night. While they are small, they are not particularly concerned about the difference in body structure, but in adolescence this can cause inconvenience.

The child should feel calm and relaxed in his sleep, and not be afraid of being uncovered. When children reach puberty, it is better to abandon bunk beds.

It is better to place the sleeping places on different walls of the room, think about a closet, a screen or a plasterboard decorative wall between them.

The interior of a children's room for children of different sexes should take into account the interests of each of its inhabitants.

Beds

Beds in the design of a nursery for children of different sexes must be correctly arranged so that each child feels his own space and does not feel constrained. The beds should be installed along one wall, separating them from each other with a plasterboard partition. This way the children will be able to talk to each other, but the partition will limit their view. Instead of a partition, you can put a bedside table or screen.

Where to store children's things

Children are not only mountains of clothes, but also a lot of toys, books, and educational materials. The headache for parents is where to store it all. The children's room should also include a system for storing things.

It is important that children and teenagers can navigate this system themselves, get everything they need and also neatly put away their things.

By the way, don’t think that girls should have more storage space. As a rule, everything is the same.

It would be ideal to install a common closet, divided in half. It will be interesting to decorate the outside of the facade in different styles, taking into account the interests of children.

Furniture and design details

The interior of a children's room for a girl and a boy is not only modern and functional furniture, decorative elements, flowers and aesthetic curtains with children's drawings. Much more important is the creation of that special aura that gives children a feeling of love, care, and respect for the interests of each of them. And it is not at all necessary that cabinets or shelves be painted different colors or have different shapes. It is enough to arrange them so that both owners feel comfortable.

So, there are options.

Furniture of the same color and almost the same style is used. The difference in perception for a girl and a boy can be achieved using the color of the bedspreads, the soft parts of chairs and ottomans, floor coverings and other details.

By equipping a room in this way, you can provide different colors for flower pots (if someone is growing them), the color scheme of paintings or photo frames, the dial of a wall clock, etc.

This room looks organic and neat. In it, the details of two personalities gently coexist, while remaining in general harmony and mutual understanding.

If the differences must be absolute...

A children's room for a boy and a girl together may not contain furniture of the same color and style. Quite often, parents resort to decisions about a complete difference in design.

So, to follow the purely “feminine” habits of a girl, the model and color of a closet, bedside tables or chest of drawers are selected, in which there are many drawers, shelves and secret places where it is so interesting to hide your jewelry and especially valuable gifts.

The style of furniture that is close to a boy is radically different. Depending on the age, these could be racks for sports equipment, special stands for stereos and computers, shelves and cases for CDs, interesting books and other “serious” hobbies. For boys' areas, high-tech and other styles that use elements of minimalism are often chosen. The colors are usually discreet: gray, coffee, pale green. If the room has low light levels, you can resort to white.

What is gained by such a decision? Each child feels like the sole owner in his or her half. Using designs and design solutions that are convenient for him, he does not get lost, easily concentrates and is well oriented where everything is located.

Open and closed storage systems

Open shelves for books and toys look aesthetically pleasing if they are kept in order.

But children rarely succeed in achieving this; moreover, open shelves are dust collectors, so you can hide things in poufs, chests of drawers, and stylized chests.

A children's room is a space of endless fun, debate and creativity. When creating such a territory, it is important to become a little child yourself in order to understand how to make all the wishes of children and teenagers come true.
