A kitchen set is the choice of millions, but only the advantage of some

Why is thoughtful cabinet filling important?

While cooking, the housewife constantly moves within the working triangle. Therefore, it is within its boundaries that the most necessary items should be located. They are placed so that everyone can easily reach them without having to stretch too hard. Floor cabinets and lower shelves of wall cabinets are best suited for this.

The internal filling is thought out in such a way that every cubic centimeter is rationally used and brings maximum benefit. There are many devices that help with this:

  • hanging shelves and baskets;
  • retractable elements (usually drawers and grilles);
  • roll-out baskets;
  • carousel shelves for floor cabinets.

There are also various stands, bottle holders, holders, shelves and much, much more. In general, everything to make life easier for the housewife. They can be used to place household chemicals, a battery of jars of spices, boxes of teas and bottles of sauces, in general, whatever your heart desires!

Now let's look at the most important elements separately.

Let's look at the kitchen set in detail

When choosing this special furniture, it is important to consider everything: the parameters of the kitchen, the material of the products, the functionality and colors of the panels, as well as the financial capabilities of the family. To understand what exactly a housewife needs, you should consider what the kitchen set consists of.

Manufacturers offer many configurations, which include:

  1. Hanging elements. Designer cabinets with regular or glazed doors are mounted to the wall. Open shelves on which stylish decorative elements are installed have a special look.
  2. Pencil cases. These include cabinet panels and column cabinets, which are an order of magnitude higher than conventional products. These types of kitchen furniture are used to save room space, as well as compact distribution of things.
  3. Floor structures. Drawers and cabinets consist of shelves and compartments. Retractable devices most often come with inserts or dividers.
  4. Countertops. Working surfaces are made of natural stone or artificial stone, acrylic.
  5. Movable furniture. Often, designers offer original mobile partitions or unique buffets/tables made according to the transformer principle.

Glass doors on cabinets visually increase the volume of space. Hanging structures are used to store cereals, dishes or devices that should always be at hand.

After such an excursion, it is worth thinking about what material the owners want and can afford to buy furniture from. The production features of such products, as well as their advantages and disadvantages, will prompt users to make the right choice.

Boxes

The benefit of drawers that extend completely from the body is obvious: all items are in sight. But there is another advantage besides convenience. The housewife will not have to squat and bend over to reach the things she needs on the shelf. This is an ideal solution for older women, as well as those with lower back or joint problems. In addition, you don’t have to think about installing backlighting.

As a rule, ball or roller guides are used as a mechanism for drawing drawers. However, in recent years, complex solutions have become very popular in filling kitchens - systems for drawers, the main advantages of which are the ability to withstand significant weight, silent operation, smooth finishing, full extension, as well as ease of installation and adjustment of the facade.

Full drawer extension is better than incomplete extension, right? And the box itself is much more convenient than a shelf: after all, the doors of floor cabinets, when opened, take up useful space and sometimes get in the way. The problem is solved very simply: instead of shelves with doors, cabinets are equipped with drawers. By installing fittings for full extension, you can get full access to every little thing stored in the cabinet.

Dividers will help you properly organize the interior space of wide drawers, and if you do not accept them, we recommend using square containers and containers for household small items. Even more order!

As for the fittings, we recommend using pneumatic mechanisms (the same push to open) and closers.

An important point: frequently used items should be placed as close as possible, preferably in the top drawers. They can be made lighter by making them less deep than the others and placed immediately under the tabletop. Just do not overload them, otherwise due to frequent opening they will quickly fail.

Material for the kitchen set: solid wood or its “distant relatives”

Wooden facades are high-quality, reliable, environmentally friendly, but very expensive products. Thanks to modern production technologies, the service life of solid wood kitchens is 30-40 years. To protect the surface from moisture or other chemical attack, the material is impregnated with special agents. In addition, the panels are covered with special fabrics that are resistant to mechanical damage.

However, designers offer only 3 designs for wooden kitchens:

  • classic;
  • ethno style;
  • modern

Over time, wooden structures begin to deteriorate. Under the influence of moisture, chemicals and temperature fluctuations, the structure of facades changes.

In most cases, only large kitchen sets are made from solid wood, since they are very bulky and bulky. For small-sized apartments, designers suggest choosing designs from lighter materials.

Chipboard (chipboard) - cheap but cheerful

The budget cost of this material has made it popular among manufacturers and users. Wood industry waste is used to make boards: sawdust and shavings. The adhesive for such a mixture is a special astringent composition, which includes formaldehyde, which is harmful to health.

The slabs, facades or edges obtained from these materials are covered with finishing:

  • plastic;
  • veneer;
  • PVC film.

Kitchen furniture made from chipboard is suitable for temporary use, so it is bought for a country house or a dormitory.

In addition, it is impossible to make complex furniture designs from the proposed panels, because they cannot be shaped or bent.

It is recommended to install such lightweight kitchen sets for a short period of time, because their surface quickly deteriorates due to high humidity and sudden temperature changes. Most often, vulnerable spots are located near the sink, oven, and stove.

MDF is a unique material, but only for facades

The front side of 95% of all kitchen units is made of fibreboard. The production technology of such sheets consists of 3 main stages:

  • grinding wood industry waste into flour;
  • cleaning, washing and drying the mixture;
  • high pressure pressing.

Thanks to this technique, manufacturing companies produce durable material with an unusually dense structure. Often panels made from it are covered with veneer, plastic, PVC film, laminate and even enamel.

The binder in this case is natural glue (lignin), which is released from the wood when heated and formed into blanks. In this regard, these types of kitchen sets cost several times more than PDS, and are environmentally friendly.

Painted facades are considered the most popular. Companies offer all sorts of color variations for this furniture, which looks luxurious under the varnish coating.

Dish dryers

It is impossible to do without a dryer in the kitchen, even if you have a dishwasher. Well, unless you store your entire supply of dishes in it. There are built-in and independent designs. The first ones are installed in cabinets or sinks, and the second ones are installed separately from the kitchen unit.

There are also open and closed. The latter are convenient because they keep the dishes clean and do not become covered with dust, while the open ones are cheaper and can be placed anywhere.

By the number of tiers there are:

  • single-tier - the most budget and small;
  • two-tier;
  • troflex - for lids.

Some manufacturers produce two-tier corner models. This is a great option if you have a free corner, but such dryers are much more expensive than traditional ones.

Main materials: stainless steel, plastic. Steel models are much stronger, more durable, more stable, and plastic ones are cheaper.

Main areas and furniture layouts

As a rule, this room is divided into the following areas:

  1. For storage. There are cabinets and shelves with food supplies and utensils, as well as a refrigerator.
  2. For preparing products. This includes the cutting table and sink.
  3. For cooking. There is a stove or hob and an oven here.

The layout of the kitchen space depends on the size of the room: when arranging a large area, you can allow it to be furnished on a grand scale, but in a small area you cannot do without optimization.

Here are the options for placing furniture in a spacious kitchen:

  • U-shaped. The preparation, cooking and storage areas are each located on its own side of the letter P.
  • Two parallel lines. One of these zones is opposite the other two.
  • Island - everything is located in the middle of the kitchen. A modification in the form of a “peninsula” is possible - when either a sink or a stove is placed in the center.

If you have enough space, you can afford a kitchen with such an unusual layout.

There are only two options for using a kitchen space with a small area: either in one line, or in a corner (in this case, the refrigerator and stove are located at opposite ends, and the sink is located in the middle). In such rooms, special fittings for the storage area – the so-called internal equipment – play a huge role. It makes it possible to place a huge number of things not just “in a cramped space, but not in a big way,” but in such a way that it will be easy and convenient to get them out.

Carousel

Not to be confused with a children's attraction. In the vast majority of Russian kitchens there is a shortage of space, so very often you can find a corner combination where the corner itself remains unused. It is quite inconvenient to use the distant space in a corner cabinet or table, for this reason they try to store mainly rarely used items there. A rotating carousel can easily cope with this, thanks to its rotating shelves.

Installation methods for this device are as follows:

  • directly inside the box and rotate inside
  • move outward following the facade, being attached directly to it.

Fans of railing systems will especially like this option.

Trays for devices

The tray functions as an organizer for storing dishes and protects the bottom of the drawer. Most often, cutlery is stored in them, but there are other varieties.

To make trays, plastic, wood, and stainless steel are most often used, but there are also more exotic options. We recommend wood only for dry-wiped dishes, otherwise the tray may warp.

Plastic ones are the most budget option, but they look commensurate with the price, and over time they can fade, get scratched, etc. In addition, in some styles, for example, Provence or country, they look alien. But there are also advantages: they are durable, resistant to moisture and high temperatures, and easy to care for.

Baskets for washing and more

The space under the sink should not be empty, because we want an efficient and ergonomic kitchen, right? And here baskets of different shapes and types come to our aid.

There are also magic corners, various roll-out shelves and more. And we will talk about them in a separate article.
